The not so new interactive TV

Posted by Monica on November 9, 2009

Finally! It was about time this happened.
In the end, there isn’t such a big difference between a computer and a television. They both have a screen and a controller.
Why should only the Internet be interactive? Why should I just zap when I can click as well?
Now, all we have to do is see the evolution. And, in Romania, the starting point of it. That is because momentarily we have only one IPTV service from Ines Internet provider who managed in 3 years to attract only around 300 users.
But not to panic, there are other providers interested in the IPTV technology and who will, officially, launch the service in the following 12 months. Until then, we can learn from countries like Czech Republic, Slovakia or Croatia who managed beautifully to have over 100,000 satisfied users within a year after the launch of the service.
Moreover, the analysts say that the IPTV service will be a success in the urban area due to its interactive services. Let’s hope that we’ll be able avoid the pop-ups and banners and other madness that creators are so fond of.
Because we are so NOT fond of looking for the “X” which closes a brand’s banner that just annoyingly spread across our screen just when things are getting spicy.
Perhaps we will be treated with just a little more respect. Or we can always hope this change will occur much like those who want to redefine the TV channel.
